Reasons I Made the Switch
Most people make the jump to mirrorless for the size. Carrying around a bunch of heavy gear for weddings is exhausting and hard on your body! I’m looking forward to having a smaller system so that my body spends less time hating me during wedding season.
Over the years of being a photographer, I have accumulated a lot of gear. Making the switch gave me the motivation to sell off the gear I’m using, as well as the gear that has been sitting in my closet untouched. Soon I will have ALL of my gear in one camera bag.
Personal and Professional consistency
I have been using an X-T2 to shoot my personal life for several years and had limited myself to one lens (the 16mm 1.4) so that I could continue to invest in my professional gear instead. I decided it would be helpful for me to grow as a photographer if I’m using the same gear in both my personal and professional lives. It also means I have a wider lineup of lenses to use in my personal work!
The sharpness I get out of my 16mm is unmatched by any of my Nikon lenses. I can’t wait to bring that sharpness to my professional work.
I won’t lie, I just prefer the aesthetic of Fuji cameras over Nikon. I’m drawn to all things vintage and cameras are no different. I feel like Fuji matches my own personal aesthetic and I am looking forward to incorporating it into my brand aesthetic as well.
